The events of the first chapter sets up the novel for reader using mystery. The events that carry out threw the novel leaves the reader asking questions and leaving them suspenseful for what will happen next, such as the first chapter when Jason had went to his fathers forbidden room, readers may have wondered why was the room forbidden, may he be hiding something will we ever find out what he may be hiding. As the reader continues the reading he then sees how Jason has answered the ringing phone and the baby crying in the back ground witch could lead him to some educated guesses of the fathers secrets lying in the forbidden office which them may give the reader a drive to continue to read to see what may have truly happen and what may come of it.
